Questions people actually ask

What is Aurora Flow Energy Complex?

Aurora Flow Energy Complex is a food supplement in capsule form with four ingredients and nothing else: caffeine 180mg, guarana extract 60mg, taurine 400mg and vitamin C 560mg (700% NRV) per daily dose of two capsules.

Every amount is printed on the label. No proprietary blends, no undisclosed quantities, no filler. It's made for people doing long stretches of cognitive work: designers, developers, writers, students, founders.

Vitamin C contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue and to normal energy-yielding metabolism. That is the only health claim authorised in the EU for anything in this formula, and it is the only one we make.

What are the key ingredients in an energy complex supplement?

Energy formulas usually pair a stimulant with supporting ingredients. Aurora Flow uses four: caffeine 180mg, guarana extract 60mg (a plant source of caffeine), taurine 400mg, and vitamin C 560mg per daily dose.

You will often read that guarana releases its caffeine slowly because it is bound to tannins in the seed. We use guarana and we are not going to repeat that claim: studies comparing absorption from guarana against plain caffeine have not consistently found the difference. It is contested, and we would rather say so.

What is not contested is the arithmetic. Every amount is printed, so you can check it yourself. Our guide to reading a supplement label works through what to look for.

How long does caffeine actually last?

Caffeine reaches peak blood levels roughly 30 to 60 minutes after you take it, and has a half-life of about 5 to 6 hours in most healthy adults, meaning half of it is still circulating five hours later.

That varies more than people expect. Genetics, liver enzyme activity, smoking, hormonal contraceptives and pregnancy can each shift it by hours in either direction.

Aurora Flow contains 180mg of caffeine per daily dose, so you can work out your own curve instead of guessing. Our caffeine half-life calculator does the arithmetic.

What we cannot tell you is how long you will feel it. No health claim for caffeine has been authorised in the EU, not even for alertness. But the number on the label is one you can plan around.

How do I take Aurora Flow?

Two capsules daily with a large glass of water. Most people take them 30 to 45 minutes before their main block of work, ideally with a light meal. Do not exceed two capsules in 24 hours.

One bottle holds 60 capsules, which is 30 daily doses, so a month at one dose per day.

Because 180mg is a meaningful amount of caffeine, it is worth counting what else you drink that day. EFSA's guidance for healthy adults is up to 400mg across a day, and around 200mg in a single sitting.

Who should not take Aurora Flow?

Aurora Flow contains 180mg of caffeine per daily dose, so it is not for everyone.

Do not take it if you are under 18, pregnant, or breastfeeding. Speak to a doctor first if you have a cardiovascular condition, high blood pressure, an anxiety or sleep disorder, or if you take prescription medication.

If you are sensitive to caffeine, this is a full dose rather than a gentle one, and it will not suit you. We would rather lose the sale than have you find that out at 2am.

What does 700% NRV vitamin C mean?

NRV means Nutrient Reference Value, the EU's reference intake defined under Regulation 1169/2011. At 560mg per daily dose, Aurora Flow provides 700% of the vitamin C NRV.

Vitamin C contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue and to normal energy-yielding metabolism.

On safety: vitamin C is water-soluble and surplus is largely excreted, but 560mg is above the 250mg daily maximum the German BfR suggests for supplements. That is a guidance figure rather than a legal limit, and there is no binding EU maximum. We think you should know the number and not only the percentage. More on our vitamin C page.

How is taurine used in energy supplements?

Taurine is an amino sulfonic acid your body already produces, found in the brain, heart and muscles. It is a standard inclusion in energy formulas and has been extensively reviewed for safety at these doses.

It is often claimed that taurine smooths out caffeine's jittery edge. That is repeated far more confidently than the evidence supports, and no health claim for taurine has ever been authorised in the EU.

We include 400mg because it is a well-tolerated part of a complete formula, not because it does something dramatic. The longer version is in taurine and caffeine.

What's the difference between Aurora Flow and a regular energy drink?

Format, sugar, and knowing the dose.

Energy drinks are liquid and usually contain 20 to 30g of sugar per 250ml can. Caffeine content varies widely between brands and is not always stated clearly on the front.

Aurora Flow is a capsule with zero sugar and zero sweeteners, and the caffeine content is a fixed 180mg per daily dose printed on the label. That is the practical difference: a number you can plan around rather than one you have to look up. The full comparison is on our energy drink alternative page.

Is Aurora Flow suitable for vegetarians and vegans?

Yes. The capsule shell is pullulan, a plant-based material derived from fermented tapioca. No gelatin, no animal-derived ingredients.

Does Aurora Flow contain natural ingredients?

The guarana is a natural plant extract (Paullinia cupana seed). Taurine and vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid) are synthesised to pharmaceutical-grade standards, which means consistent dosing and tested purity. The pullulan capsule shell is plant-derived.

We don't treat "natural" as a selling point on its own. It has no legal definition in the EU, so anyone can print it. The dose on the label is the part that can actually be checked.
